By Him All Things Consist

Our modern society considers multitasking essential for daily life. A huge number of blogs have cropped up showing people how to get things done more efficiently. There are others who say the best way to get many things done is to do them one at a time, since humans, like their beloved iPhones, can’t really multitask.

God is not human. He constantly and consistently multitasks with perfection on both the grand and infinitesimal scales. From quarks to galaxies, God holds it all together. In week 6 of My Biography of God, we will see more about who God is and how all things consist  by Him.

Colossians 1:9-29

Concluding thoughts for Week 6

A very wise person once told me that all means all. Nothing is left out. Everything is included. By Christ, all things consist; simple that He is composer of everything. There is nothing that exists without Him. He holds it all together. He keeps it in working order. What an incredible thought!  If God can keep the universe running, can’t He take care of me?

To think that the God who created and maintains the universe can work through me (v. 29) in a mighty way is incredible! May I ”
walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and [increase] in the knowledge of God.”

Many different industries use words that describe their products. Few companies spend more time describing their products than car companies. When you see an advertisement for a car, the words used to describe it can tell you far more than the actual name of the car can. Words like refined, rugged, exhilarating, and limited edition give a picture and expectation of what that car is like. What is God like? All too often, the word God does not mean as much as it should, because we don’t know much about the person and character of God. As you read God’s Word, you will find words that describe Him, or you will be able to summarize a verse with a word that describes the way He is or what He does. When filling out this section, take time to record the word and the verse where you found the word.

Just as we can learn about many of the thoughts and interests of an artist by looking at his paintings, so we can learn about God from His creation. In this section, record Scripture references and your first-hand observations of all the wonderful things that God has created.
